SMALL STOOL DESIGNED 2019
Labrys is the ancient Greek word for double ax. The reason why, I have named the stool after a double ax, is that the shape of the seat, when seen from above, reminds a bit of the shape of a double ax.
Designing this very small stool, I have explored some of the possibilities we have as designers, when using CNC milling in the production. CNC milling makes it possible to make some very beautiful organic shapes, and some very nice fluent transitions between the different parts on the furniture.
The stool has been made using maple, which I have been treating with some bee wax, in order to protect the surface. Also, the wood gets a nice golden look, after having been treated with the wax.
